In this episode, I take the conversation back to Indiana’s 6th Congressional District, a region that stretches from the south side of Indianapolis through Columbus, Shelbyville, Madison, and across a wide range of rural communities. It’s a district defined by small cities, farmland, independent businesses, and people who expect real results instead of Washington talking points.
Joining me for this discussion is David Boyd, a Democratic candidate for Congress in 2026. As the campaign begins to take shape, I wanted to sit down with him to explore how he sees the challenges facing Hoosiers across this district and what he believes Washington has been getting wrong.
Our conversation touches on a number of issues that voters across the 6th District keep bringing up: economic pressure on families, access to healthcare, rural hospital closures, broadband expansion, manufacturing jobs, agriculture policy, and infrastructure investment. Boyd argues that many of the struggles people are facing, whether they live in Columbus, Shelbyville, or in one of the district’s rural counties, come down to the same core concerns: the economy, healthcare access, and good-paying jobs.
We also discuss the pressures facing small family farms, the importance of stronger antitrust enforcement, and what role federal policy should play in supporting rural communities. Boyd talks about restoring funding for rural healthcare, expanding broadband access, and making sure infrastructure dollars actually reach the communities that need them most.
Beyond policy, the conversation also turns to accountability. Boyd says that if elected, he would focus on holding regular town halls across the district, staying connected with voters in every county, and refusing practices like congressional stock trading that undermine public trust.
This interview is part of an ongoing effort to give voters direct access to the people asking for their vote. My goal isn’t to tell you what to think. It’s to make sure you hear directly from the candidates themselves.
So whether you’re in Columbus, Shelbyville, Madison, the south side of Indy, or one of the rural counties that make up Indiana’s 6th District, the conversation starts here.
